What is Allergy & Sensitivity Testing?

At Integrated Natural Medicine, we use VEGA bioelectronic testing — a non-invasive method of assessing the body's energetic response to a range of substances. Unlike conventional immunological allergy tests, VEGA testing does not require blood draws, skin-prick procedures, or any form of injection.

The technique uses a gentle bioelectronic device to measure subtle changes in the body's electrical conductance when introduced to the energetic signature of various test substances. This can help identify substances that may be contributing to your symptoms, guiding a more targeted and personalised health plan.

VEGA sensitivity testing is considered a complementary assessment tool and is best understood alongside your broader health history, dietary intake, and where appropriate, conventional medical testing.

What Can Be Tested?

Our sensitivity testing can assess the energetic response to a broad range of substances, including:

  • Individual foods and food groups
  • Grains, gluten and dairy products
  • Nuts, seeds and legumes
  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Dental materials and metals
  • Phenolic compounds
  • Additives and preservatives
  • Environmental substances

Your practitioner will discuss which testing panel is most appropriate for your individual health concerns and symptom picture.

How is it Different from Standard Allergy Testing?

Conventional allergy testing — such as RAST blood tests or skin-prick testing — measures specific immunological markers (such as IgE antibodies) to determine true allergic reactions. These tests are valuable diagnostic tools provided by medical doctors and allergy specialists.

VEGA bioelectronic testing operates on a different principle, assessing the body's energetic or bioelectronic response to substances rather than measuring immune system activity. It is particularly useful for identifying food intolerances and sensitivities that may not show up on standard immunological tests.

The two approaches are complementary, not competing. We always encourage patients to continue working with their GP and relevant medical specialists, and to share any findings from complementary testing with their medical team.

Sensitivity testing is a complementary assessment only and does not constitute a medical diagnosis. Please consult your GP for medical evaluation and diagnosis of allergies.

What to Expect at Your Session

Testing is conducted in a calm, comfortable clinical environment. You will be asked to hold a brass cylinder in one hand while your practitioner uses a stylus probe to measure conductance at specific acupuncture points on your other hand. Individual substances are introduced into the circuit via a test honeycomb, and the body's energetic response is observed on a galvanometer readout.

The process is entirely painless and non-invasive. There are no needles, no blood draws, and no discomfort involved. Most patients find the session informative and straightforward.

Results are discussed with you immediately at the end of your appointment. Your practitioner will explain the findings in the context of your overall health picture and recommend any appropriate dietary adjustments, naturopathic support, or further investigation where warranted.

Who May Benefit?

Sensitivity testing may be a useful complementary tool for people experiencing:

  • Unexplained or recurrent symptoms that have not been fully explained by conventional testing
  • Chronic digestive discomfort, bloating or irregular bowel habits
  • Skin conditions such as eczema, hives or unexplained rashes
  • Suspected food intolerances or reactions to certain foods
  • Persistent fatigue, brain fog or low energy
  • Recurring headaches with no clear identified trigger
  • Concerns about dental materials or environmental sensitivities

Testing is suitable for adults and children. Your practitioner will tailor the session to your age, health history and presenting concerns.
